James Sinclair on why the market for enterprise startups is bigger, more in demand, easier and a safer bet than a consumer startup. Period.
EnterpriseJungle is a new startup that asks ‘who will you discover?’ and helps professionals discover ‘peers’ that they should be connected to, but aren’t. These may be other people in the same company, or possible sales leads in other companies. EnterpriseJungle pulls this off by tapping into the data available in profiles of other corporate users, and from solutions like Linkedin.
This approach plays to the premise of EnterpriseJungle, a technology company that helps organisations to connect employees who would work well together. “We believe the answer is always in the room,” said James Sinclair, co-founder of Enterprise Jungle. “The best resource for a job is out there; the question is, do they already work here or do we need to go and find them? And in that case, who in our organisation can lead us to them? Referral is the strongest method of recruitment. End of story.”

How often do we feel that we hardly know the person sitting in the cubicle next to ours, let alone someone sitting in our company’s Hong Kong or Sydney office? Yet, unbeknownst to us that colleague could have expertise and connections that would be of great importance for our next project. Workforce access to information, knowledge, and opportunity has direct correlation to productivity, retention, and employees’ passion for the enterprise they work for.
“EnterpriseJungle grows one’s network, making it easier to access the right people in the right way and at the right time to help achieve their goals,” James Sinclair, co-founder of EnterpriseJungle, told New York Smash. “Engaging with those who fit perfectly into a person’s business social graph will help to build effective and meaningful relationships that drive more efficient outcomes.”
“We can find the people missing in your network that you should know, and we can find the people that you should know but don’t,” Sinclair explained. “We provide this very [specific] value on top of your existing ESN (enterprise social network) provider — Jive, Yammer, SuccessFactors — whatever it is, we’re able to jump in there…and sit on top of any data set, and provide recommendations.”
